Digital Preparatory School

Concentration (Prototype)

Company Setting

This is intended for a digital preparatory school. The aim of the course to actively engage students through real-life issues pertaining to the Science concept, “Concentration”. The students would be of different grade levels, since this school encourages accelerated learning through self-paced classes.

Project team

I completed this project expecting to have key stakeholders including a product owner, and relevant SMEs (Science Specialists).

Task overview

This prototype project is for students to understand the concept of concentration through real life issues. The course takes the learner through both global and local settings where they understand the importance of the concept. Feedback is provided for the choices as they go through the scientific questions.

Design Theory

This eLearning was developed through design thinking. Design thinking draws on empathizing with the users. In this course, it will be the students. Having stakeholder interviews with students and educators who deliver the lessons allows us to have an understanding of their needs.

Using that, we can go to the next process of defining the personas, objectives and also, the challenges we may face. This will lead us into ideation and prototyping using a storyboard. After thorough discussions and evaluation, we can test the eLearning.

Design and Development Process

  • I would use previous data analytics for the current course on concentration and create an instructional strategy using a KWL chart: What do they know?  What do they want to know?  What did they learn (after the class)?
  • I would initiate a kick off meeting with SMEs to understand the content required for this course.
  • I would develop a storyboard including the prototype screenshots.
  • I would create a prototype using Microsoft Powerpoint or Google Slides.
  • I created a storyboard in Microsoft Word using a template by Brett Kirkpatrick to lay out the content, visuals and media required for this course.
  • I would plan the work I would do in Articulate Rise.
